Device Preparation for Service

Before bringing your Apple device to a service center or shipping it for repair, follow these essential preparation steps. If your device is unresponsive, complete as many steps as possible. Some actions can also be performed through your Apple ID Account online.

Create a Device Backup:
  • Utilize iCloud for wireless backup
  • Use a Mac computer to create a complete backup
  • Alternatively, perform a backup using a Windows PC
  • Disable Device Tracking: Navigate to your device’s Settings app and access your personal account. Locate the “Find My” section and deactivate the device tracking feature. If standard methods are unavailable:
  • Open the Find My app
  • Visit iCloud.com/find
  • Select your specific device
  • Choose the “Remove This Device” option
  • Follow the displayed instructions for service preparation
  • Important Note: Apple requires Find My to be disabled to prevent unauthorized service requests. If you cannot turn off this feature, the service process might be complicated or potentially blocked.
